Background

The school has joined the Project of Learning Circle on helping teachers to adopt Variation Theory to enhance the learning effectiveness of students through lesson studies.

Objectives

To enhance the effectiveness of English learning through the adaptation of Variation Theory.

Setting the object of learning and finding out its critical features.
Identifying the learning difficulties of students through pre-tests and pre-interviews.
Designing lessons and learning activities base on the identified learning difficulties.

Evaluation

Reviewing the effectiveness of the lessons and the activities through post-tests and post-interviews.

Space Town Literacy Programme (P.1 - P.3)

The school has joined the Space Town Literacy Programme and adopted it in P.1 - P.3.

Objectives

To enhance students' reading and writing ability through the programmes.
To nurture students' reading habits.
To encourage students to become life-long learners.

The Implementation of the Programme

Students will attend some of the English lessons in English Wonderland.
The English teachers will co-teach with the Native-speaking English Teacher in these lessons.
Students will learn English through reading different interesting stories.
Students' learning will be supported by mix-ability grouping and leveled worksheets.
Co-operative learning opportunities will be provided and encouraged in both reading and writing.

The Implementation of the Programme

A variety of formative assessments will be done in the lessons such as worksheets, group work, games and self-evaluations.

Evaluation

Reviewing the effectiveness of the lessons and the activities through post-tests and post-interviews.

Primary 1 Head Programme

Objectives

To enable students to achieve certain learning goals in real contexts and authentic settings.

The Implementation of the Programme

English Fun Time is one of the component of the curriculum included in Primary 1 HEAD Programme.
Two lessons are allocated for English Fun Time which are held in lessons 8 and 9.
Primary 1 English teachers will co-teach with the NET and ELTA in the lessons.
Theme-based tasks are designed for students to apply their knowledge and skills authentically.

Evaluation

Portfolios are being used to record and assess the learning progress of the students.

English 4 U

Background

“English 4U” is filmed and delivered bi-weekly during lunchtime on Fridays.

Objectives

To be exposed to idioms in action.
To arouse interest in English.
To practise listening and comprehension skills.

Background

English Fun Fair is organized based on different themes every year.

To encourage students with the opportunity to participate and use communicative English language, in the English Fun Fair.
To continue a student-centered environment to arouse students’ learning interest through various English activities.
To provide co-operative learning opportunities outside of the classroom.
To provide a fun and dynamic environment to foster a positive relationship to English for life-long learning.

Background

Wo Che Lutheran Newspaper is composed by a group of P.4 to P.6 students and the Native-speaking English Teacher.

To develop reading and writing skills.
