Lutheran Academy (Through-train)

L.A. Children's Choir

The L.A. Children's Choir is a young, energetic and joyful choral ensemble, and consists of members from primary two to primary four. The L.A. Children's Choir had made multiple appearances in school performances, such as Christmas concerts, ELCHK Lutheran Academy International Funfair Day, the Arts Evening and more. The L.A. Children's Choir had also taken part in the 68th Music Festival organised by the Hong Kong Schools Music and Speech Association. This year, the choir will be merging with the L.A. Sinfonietta and the L.A. Singers in the ELCHKJoint-School Concert.

L.A. Sinfonietta

L.A. Sinfonietta was established in 2010 and was, has been being and is conducted by Nicholas Ching. During 6 years operation, the Sinfonietta has transformed into a dynamic and experienced orchestra that currently performs two to three concerts annually at its home, School Hall at Lutheran Academy for different occasion such as Christmas Celebration, Arts Evening and Graduation.
In 2013, L.A. Sinfonietta joined the Summa Cum Laude International Youth Music Festival in Vienna and performed in Musikverein, Haus der Musik in Vienna, Bath Pavilion in UK, and Smetana Concert Hall in Prague. The Sinfonietta also received prizes from the Hong Kong Youth Music Interflows.
The most challenging thing in the development of L.A. Sinfonietta is to recruit talented and devoted young musicians. Our target is to build up an orchestra with 118 musicians. Since 2015 September, we had been developing one string orchestra and one wind band from the Year 5. This year, we are now having two string orchestras, named Allegrezza String and Battuto String; and two wind bands, named Symphonic Wind and Cadet Wind. From the Grace of the Lord and the Holy Spirit, may we continue to deliver quality music education to the young so that they shall shine and glorify the Lord with the music talent He provides to our community and pass it on to their next generation.

L.A. Singers

Lutheran Academy Singers, conducted by Mr Nicholas Ching, is part of the comprehensive music training to students in Lutheran Academy. There are about 40 members in LA Singers in a mixture of primary and secondary sections of Lutheran Academy. The choir members spend efforts and time in weekly rehearsals to strive for excellence in tone, balance, and blending of their singing. The choir has been kept at a high standard by Mr Ching. The repertoire is extensive, covering works of the Baroque to the Modern periods and styles ranging from sacred music, folk songs, musicals and Jazz. Each year L.A. Singers performs in concerts and graudation ceremonies that are open to the local LA community. Moreover, the choir has acheived good comments from the Hong Kong School Music Festival in 2015.

Introduction:

1. 《Pathway of Hope by Joseph Martin》
This song is written by US composer Joseph Martin for the 50th anniversary of Sunny Lane United Methodist Church in Del City, Oklahoma. Replete with images of the journey we call life, this song celebrates God's presence in our lives. It features generous unison; an inspiring text; and a confident and affirming conclusion.

2. 《When You Believe - arranged by Audrey Snyder & John Moss》
Adapted from The Prince of Egypt, When you believe reminds us not to be afraid of obstacles. Even though our hopes are fragile and prayers aren't answered, there can be miracles when we believe. Musically, it starts in the key of D minor, modulating to F major and ends in Bb major. Hebrew - the original language of Bible is written, glorifies the triumph of our Lord in this song. Let us sing and rejoice because there can be miracles when you believe.

3. 《You'll Never Walk Alone with Climb Ev'ry Mountain》
Two of Rodgers and Hammerstein's most beloved songs are powerfully set together in a combo of great emotion and strength. Performing with the exquisite piano accompaniment and the full orchestral, the song will stir every heart in the audience and bring them to their feet in applause.

4. 《Holiday Favourites》
A medley of five famous secular Christmas music arranged by Roger Emerson & Paul Lavender. It includes: Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer, Jingle-Bell Rock, Silver Bells, Frosty the Snowman.
